In his latest vlog, the ESA’s Executive Director, Jacob Hayler, provides an update on recent issues affecting the UK’s resources and waste management sector, as well as an overview of recent ESA activity.

These include battery fires; the application of the Emissions Trading Scheme to the waste sector; implementation of the Collection and Packaging Reforms and measures to tackle waste crime.

Jacob also provides a summary of two recent reports, published by the ESA, including the ESA’s Vision for a circular economy by 2040 – which was launched in June 2025 at an event at the National Portrait Gallery.
