DESCRIPTION:Policy Connect will be hosting a parliamentary summit on sustainability policy and practices in the healthcare sector\, chaired by Baroness Ritchie of Downpatrick. \nContext \nThe health system is a key part of the UK economy\, providing jobs and productivity and supporting the health of the workforce\, but with this comes significant resource consumption\, waste and deleterious social and environmental impact. \nBurgeoning health service use entails increased costs and waste; how the new government can sustainably manage increasing demand\, meet quality of care\, and ensure safety while reducing waste in the system will require careful consideration. \n  \nKey focuses for discussion \n\nSustainable healthcare policy: Government and NHS commitments to sustainable healthcare\, progress\, and next steps in the new Parliament; and\nGreen health and the circular health economy: achieving efficient pathways and sustainable medical resource management\, including medical waste.\n\nAbout Policy Connect \nPolicy Connect is a cross-party think tank.
